Advice for Parents

Elena Allan has been the manager at Little Jogs nursery for over ten years and has helped many parents settle their children into the nursery environment.
She says, “Naturally, many parents will be concerned at leaving their child for the first time. It is a big step for both parents and child and we do all we can to make this easier.”
Elena has put together a list of questions that parents might like to consider when they are choosing the right childcare for their child.

  • How will your child be introduced into the nursery routine?
  • Is the nursery environment happy? Is the nursery secure, bright, welcoming and well equipped?
  • Are the children able to play outside in a securely enclosed garden?
  • Do the staff interact well with the children, are they knowledgeable, approachable and experienced?
  • Do staff plan appropriate activities for the babies, toddlers and pre-school?
  • How will the staff provide you with feedback on your child’s progress?
  • Is there a cook at the nursery, are the lunches and snacks varied and balanced? Is fresh fruit provided daily? Are staff knowledgeable about caring for children with allergies?

If you want to arrange to visit our nursery so that you can see how we interact with the children then please don’t hesitate to contact us and we can arrange a suitable time for you to pop in.
