Pre-School Room

Children participate in a well-structured day. Detailed project work is complemented by organised themes including art, science, technology and construction. We also ensure that children are able to cope with dressing themselves, being at ease with adults, and able to answer questions and express themselves within a group.

Getting Ready for School
Children will also be able to recognise and write their own name, begin to understand numbers, plus using pencil, scissors and art materials confidently. Most of all they will be happy, secure children ready for the challenge of school. We incorporate a maths table, a science table, a writing table, book corner, messy table and a role play corner, together with computer activities.

Curriculum Areas
Part of each morning is spent in small key groups covering the six curriculum areas:

  • Personal, social and emotional development
  • Communication, language and literacy
  • Problem solving, reasoning and numeracy
  • Knowledge and understanding of the world
  • Physical development
  • Creative development

There are also opportunities for free play when children learn about co-operating, sharing and making decisions.

Learning Journey
Each child progress is recorded in an individual learning journey which is given to parents to take with them when their child leaves to go on to school.

Ofsted Comments

“The adults interact very well with the children extending their vocabulary and encouraging them to investigate and explore. The children are polite, learn good manners and are confident to talk about their learning to visitors. Children are prepared well for the future because they are encouraged to be independent”

Parents Comments

“ I pass on the message to my friends and family about the amazing level of care my daughter receives at Little Jogs”
